Camping

Silverwood Lake....
This past weekend Bill and I joined Don, Kristin & Daniel at silverwood lake for some camping. This was the first of many camping trips this season! We met up at Don and Kristin's house and "caravan" to the camp grounds. We made good time considering sitting in traffic on the toll road.
Once at the campsite we scoped it out and found where to pitch our tents. (i have to say campsite #38 was a great one!) We were close to the bathrooms, had great shade, and a short distance to the lake, What else could you as for in a campsite...

Friday Night after camp was set up, we started dinner. Kristin planned dinner and it was delicious. We had Grilled Chicken, Green Beans, and Baked Potatoes. I helped Kristin prep the meal while Don and Bill cooked it using our new free standing 3 burner stove. (it sure came in handy)

After dinner and doing the dishes, the boys started a camp fire (with a little trouble) and we pulled up chairs ate popcorn and tried to stay warm as the temperature ended up dipping below 40 degrees. It ended up being a very cold night.

Saturday we started out the day with Breakfast. Using the left over potatoes, scrambled eggs, bacon, & cheese we made breakfast burritos. top that with fresh fruit it was a tasty meal. After breakfast we hung around camp for a little bit (letting the food settle) and running over to the marnia store to buy some fishing bait....with much anticipation Daniel got his wish and we all headed down to the lake for some fishing. I've never been fishing so it was a new experience for me. I sat and watched Daniel using a "big boy" fishing pool for the 1st time. He was so cute... casting then reeling it in, then casting again.

We spent a good part of the afternoon out there fishing. Daniel really wanted to catch a fish to cook for dinner, unfortunately the only ones catching fish were the people about 40ft away. I believe they caught about 3 or 4 trout.

Don was trying to get Daniel to leave his line in the water so that he would have a chance to catch a fish, when Don asked him..."Daniel where are the fish?" Daniel's reply was so cute..(pointing over the the people 40 ft away "Um... I think they are over there" I couldn't help but laugh... the kid had a point.

Once we were done with fishing we headed back to camp to eat some lunch. Turkey/Ham sandwiches with chips hit the spot. While Don and Bill took a hike Kristin, Daniel, and I stayed at camp and read. Holding Daniels attention span for about 30mins he then decided he would rather climb the tree with a neighboring boy.

Dinner rolled around and we made carne asada, with refried beans, grilled bell peppers chips & salsa. We put it all together in a tortilla and made fajitas. As the boys once again cooked dinner Kristin and I played a card game called Nerts. After Dinner was finished and dishes were cleaned and put away. we hung around the camp fire talked and made s'mores. I added a twist by spreading peanut butter on the graham crackers first then adding the dark chocolate and roasted marshmallow. That was TASTY!

Sunday morning we ate danishes and fruit then packed up camp and hit the road home. It was such a fun trip that on the way home Bill and I were talking about planning another trip with Kristin and Don.

So fun!!! It is making me want to go camping. Do you have to get sites ahead of time at silverwood lake? That really isn't that far from me I don't think. I need to plan a fun camping trip soon. Maybe after we move. Because man, this looked so fun!!!
