Book Club 2011

Book Club has started again. YAY!

I hosted the first meeting of the year. It was a small group (only 3 of us made it) but it was fun none the less. For the 1st meeting we got together and pick our reading for the year. I'm really excited for this years reading list. We have some really great books that made it on the list, and a few that didn't that will end up on my side reading... can't wait to begin!

Bill and I had a date night tonight. We went out to dinner to a Japanese restaurant where you cook your own food at the table. It's not only affordable but also very delicious. We tried a few different items tonight and had one of their new desserts, Banana with choc. syrup and vanilla ice cream. After dinner we went out to the movies and saw No Strings Attached. The movie was a cute "chick flick" that I enjoyed and Bill tolerated.

Cherry on Top

After Bill's explorer meeting he took my sister Jenny and I on a date. We had dinner at Cheesecake Factory and then grabbed dessert at Cherry on Top. It was my first time going, and it was delicious! I think I just found my new addiction... On our way home Jenny who has a driving permit asked Bill if she could drive the Charger home... we both thought he'd say no... but to Jenny's surprise he said ok! She did a great job driving us home, no need to be worried about this little driver!

Our first vacation of the year Bill and I went snowboarding with our friends Lea and Tim. We left early tuesday morning and drove to vegas where we stopped to grab some breakfast at the Peppermill. after breakfast we made the last leg of our trip to utah. Once we made it to utah we stopped at a walmart to pick up the essentials, and saw some folks who had to be sister wives. Only in Utah!

TUESDAY
The first night we got settled in at the condo. We went to the lodge, had a few drinks and appetizers. Once back in the warm condo we all got dinner ready watched THE TOWN then got in the spa and relaxed.

WEDNESDAY
We got up early had a hearty breakfast and headed to the slopes. According to Lea and Bill the conditions were really nice, I on the other hand who has no idea, this was my third time snowboarding, spent the whole day getting up falling on my knees getting up falling on my bottom and repeat.... lets just say I had more bruises than one would want. Bill, Lea and Tim got in a few runs and by half day I was finished my poor little knees couldn't take it anymore. That night we all had dinner and watched DINNER WITH SCHMUCKS it was funny but not as funny as I thought it would be, after the movie we relaxed in the spa and let me tell you it felt so good!!!

THURSDAY
We woke up i realized i wouldn't be able to go snowboarding my knees were so bruised that if i fell once that would be the end, so instead i got my knitting and a good book together and stayed at the lodge while the other 3 went out snowboarding. I watched for a little and was really impressed with some of the boarders and skiers out there on the mountain, maybe some day I'll be that good.

Being our last night and all we decided to go out to dinner down the mountain. We found Sully's Steakhouse. Oh man was that a dinner to remember. picture the 4 of us the only customers at 5pm sitting in this tiny restaurant which had dead animals hanging on every inch of wall and being serenade by an older gentleman singing to country music. We all ordered the house special which was a new york steak and your choice of potato plus a roll where were the veggies you ask? yah so did we! The steak was decent but a little fatty, the rolls were good and the potatoes nothing to die for. Over all the dinner was just ok.

Now the fun begins.... as were are driving up the mountain back to the condo Bill decides to roll the window down (apparently someone farted) as Lea went to roll the window up if slipped off the track and down into the door. GREAT! now were are driving in snow in very cold weather having a 7hour drive awaiting us in the morning and the window won't roll up.

Tim and Bill put plastic and a towel over the open window to keep the elements out for the night. we tried to make the best out of the evening and relax in the spa, just as it started snowing. That was pretty neat probably one of my favorite moments from the trip.

FRIDAY
In the morning we all got up and out the door pretty early. We stopped off at this little garage dropped off the car and walked over to a diner were we grabbed some breakfast, after about 2 hours the car was ready to go again with the window in the up right position. we made the long drive home, over all this vacation was fun and filled with memories we'll have forever.. better or worse i'm so glad the four us were able to take this vacation together and hope it's only the first of many!

For new years eve this year Bill & I went out to dinner with our friends Katie & Dave. We ate at this little pizza joint by the house and then headed over to Dave's buddy's house to ring in the new year.
