Happy Christmas 2013

CHRISTMAS MORNING
Christmas morning we opened presents and stockings, then my family came over for breakfast and our family gift exchange. For breakfast we usually make "monkey bread" my sister-in-law's recipe but we forgot the bundt pan so the monkey bread didn't turn out as we hoped. oh well there is always next year right =)

Halloween 2013

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays!
this year we decided to dress up as a family.

DOCTOR WHO

was our theme and it couldn't have been more perfect. I was companion "ROSE TYLER" Bill was companion "JACK HARKNESS" my sister Nette was "THE DOCTOR" (david tennant aka 10th doctor) and little Aiden was the "TARDIS".

I made his costume with my sister and it was truly a fun experience. I can't say I'll make his every year, but once in awhile I think it would be fun.

This year we were invited to go trick-or-treating with our good friends Corey, Laura, and Nate in their neighborhood. We had dinner first and then it was off to walk door to door and acquire ALOT of candy for an almost 2 yr old. Aiden had so much and walked most of the block himself. We even got him to say trick or treat a few times!

RED, WHITE & BLUE

Let Freedom Ring.

I absolutely love the 4th of July. Its a holiday that celebrates the birth of this beautiful Land were we live.

Our close family and friends made it over for a bbq including hotdogs, hamburgers, jello dessert, and of course homemade ice cream. We finished off the evening with some spectacular fireworks!

1st Annual NYE Party 2012 (into 2013)

Having a baby changes things.... MANY things.

Planning now has to come into play. A simple date night now requires planning and prepping. So for New Year's Eve we had two choices... GO OUT or STAY IN.

We decided that The Hughes' were going to start the NYE party tradition. It actually works out pretty great. Baby goes to bed but parents get to stay up and enjoy the holiday with friends.

This year marks the "1st Annual NYE Party".
We had family and friends over to enjoy food, drinks & company while ringing in the new year. I think it was a pretty happening party with the poppers and fireworks. Our last guest left at 2am which meant Mommy and Daddy were hurting the next morning with their sweet baby boy waking up at 6:30AM!!! It was well worth it! (and didn't hurt that grandma/grandpa Kingsbury were in town...)

Happy Christmas 2012

Technically this is Aiden's 2nd Christmas, but it felt more like his 1st. After all he was only 20 days old last year.

We were lucky enough to have both sides of the family in town for Christmas. Bill's parents spilt their time between Us and Kristin's family. It's so wonderful to have family around during the holiday season.  Being able to enjoy each others company and appreciate the true meaning of the Holiday.

Here or some of the highlights
- We managed to decorate the tree with only 3 casualties ( thanks to bunks aka Aiden)
-Saw a lot of the family at "Annual Anderson Christmas Party"
-Christmas Eve Dinner with The In-Laws @ Kristin's Home.
-Christmas Day Dinner with my Family.
-Enjoyed being a parent this year and watching Aiden take it all in...

family christmas 2011

The "Anderson" christmas party was in Oceanside this year on the 23rd. We actually had alot of family show up which was nice, plus i got to show off our new baby boy! This year was a little different than most, we didn't have our annual white elephant gift exchange. Its funny because i used to love that part of the family christmas party, but i can honestly say i didn't miss it one bit this year. Could it be because i have this little bundle of joy to keep me so busy... naw... its because of how horrible the gag gifts have become, I swear we have some gifts that have been in rotation for almost 10 years! scary right!

we ended up having a light dinner (thanks aunt pam) of hot sandwiches, salads and desserts. Spending time with family and catching up on every ones busy lives. It's crazy to think how much our family has changed in just 5 very short years. multiple cousins getting married and having babies, it feel like yesterday that we were all re-enacting the birth of Christ at grandpa and grandma Anderson's house.

Pumpkin Carving 2011

It seems like since I've been pregnant we are behind on everything. It wasn't till Saturday night that we decided to decorate the house for Halloween and went to the pumpkin patch to get a pumpkin.

Halloween is probably Our favorite holiday. We both love to decorate for it and our main goal is to make it as scary as possible. We want our place to scare the trick-or-treaters!

After all the Halloween deco was up outside we decided to get some dinner pick up a pumpkin and spend the rest of the evening carving pumpkins. I think this years pumpkin turned out great!

We found a pretty cool pumpkin with some character. Bill has always played around "eating" the pumpkin guts....

Our Graveyard pumpkin the tombstones are for Bill and I and "The Bean". My mom saw that and said we're sick... Yes we are when it comes to Halloween spirit!

Labor Day Weekend Cont...

On Monday My Mom, sister Jenny and I went to Babies R US see if they were having any good sales, We ended up purchasing my Crib and the Bedding for the Crib. I also started to make up a registry, after all in less than 100 days Baby Hughes will be making his/her appearance.

After the trip to "bru" the whole family went out to Gerry and Nikki's new place for some food and swimming. Let me just say i had mixed feeling about the whole swmming idea, on one hand i thought it would feel great to get some exercise in and have the baby weight lifted off me for an hour or so, but gettting into a swimsuit while pregnant..... beached whale is the only thing that came to mind.... it turned out ok!

The Grandparents just watched everyone swim but they seemed to have enjoyed it!
Michael, Elise, Janette, Mom, Dad, Nikki and Gerry hanging out in the pool!
Michael, Elise, Janette, Mom, Dad, Nikki, and Gerry.

Playing a few games in the pool, "Shark" someone has to stand outside the pool with back turned while everyone else tries to make it to the other side before the "shark" jumps in and tags them. My dad was undefeated. We also played a kind of volleyball game in the pool with a cheap blow-up ball hitting back and forth counting how long we can "volley" it without it touching the water, we made it to 101!

Labor Day Weekend

On Saturday Bill and I had a BBQ. We grilled up some hamburgers and hot dogs, we had fruit salad, potato salad and more chips then we knew what to do with.   We had a small group of family and friends over, and I have to admit it was a good time for everyone!
Jenny, Dad and Elise
Chuck had a great time, he made his way into the bowl of chips. ran around the backyard and got Uncle Bill to give him more cookies then should have been allowed.
Sage and Lucy became double trouble in no time. Instant buddies from the start.
My good friend Keri (whom I recently reconnected with) and her husband Robert made it to the bbq and had their too-cute-for-words daughter Emma with them, getting to hold Emma just made me want my bundle of joy to hurry up and get here!
Martha and Greg, or should i say my 2nd set of parents made it also, I was even surprised that Greg stayed as long as he did. but then again he and the other men were busy watching the tennis matches on TV... Boring!

Robert and Lani, you can always count on these two to make every occasion! I love having them over and Lani always brings yummy snacks.... Not that we were lacking in that department!
Sandie and Donald (sage belongs to them) came out and it was so good to see them. Their daughter is so adorable!
excuse my shadow... Kelly and Davy some of my closest and favorite people, They have the cutest kids (lucy and chuck) and always make any outing a fun and entertaining time...
Gerry and Nikki just relaxing and having a good time. that's what summer holidays are about right!?!
the little ones getting into trouble i'm sure with the help of cookies given to them by Bill.
Taking a break for the Grilling Bill sitting down with the group getting his grub on!
All and All the bbq was a great time and a huge success! I can't wait till we can do it all again!

Holiday for Lovers!

This Valentines' day was somewhat different. Not only did I get to spend the weekend with my love but also with my 2 favorite little sisters! My parents were out of town and so I had my sisters stay with me. It was so much fun. I love having this kind of quality time with them, it reminds me of when we were all very young playing house. I truly feel like my younger sisters are in fact "my" little babies.

Saturday night Bill took Me and Jenny on a date. We went to color me mine and made some prrretty cool stuff if you ask me, afterwards we had dinner at BJ's on main st in HB. I think Jenny's favorite part was that Bill actually let her drive his "pimp" car as she refers to it. I mean Bill hardly lets me drive it. But the girls has to learn and practice, she gets her license in 2 weeks! Elise was out with some friends so she wasn't able to come with us :-(

Sunday Jenny and I headed to church to hear Elise give a talk. She did a wonder job and i find it ironic that her topic was on friendship, because she it the most amazing friend anyone could ask for! After church we all went back home to my house. We had dinner and watch the grammys, it was a very fun evening. My "adoptive/weekend sister" aka Elise's best friend Paige was here too!
Monday Valentine's Day i had to work but got out of there early because i had to take my car to the body shop... that story is for another post.... any way bill picked me up from the body shop and had dinner plans for the 4 of us. Bill is one lucky guy having 3 very beautiful, smart and funny woman as his dates on Valentines. He took us to RainForrest Cafe. It was a lot of fun, and it just so happens that His sister Kristin with her son Daniel were there too (meeting friends) small world. After Dinner we all decided to get Cherry on Top... so yummy!
